A note on this record

This is my original record, starting with no trading experience. It includes mistakes made while learning.

The algorithms continue to be improved to the best of my ability. However, this does not guarantee better future performance.

Period returns

Returns of my personal account and SPY by period
PeriodMy accountSPYvs. SPY (pp)
2026 YTD+25.35%+12.71%+12.64
2025+42.75%+17.72%+25.03
2024 (from May)+161.29%+14.55%+146.74

2024 starts May 7; 2026 is year to date through September 30. Differences are in percentage points (pp).

These results are from my personal account, not a composite of client accounts. If a client account achieved the same performance over the same period, its return would be reduced by advisory fees. Investing involves risk, including substantial loss. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

How these returns are calculated

Returns are time-weighted and were reconstructed from my brokerage records and historical prices. The effect of deposits and withdrawals is removed, treating each as an end-of-day cash flow. Annualized figures assume 252 trading days a year; periods of one year or less are not annualized. SPY returns include reinvested dividends over the same periods.

Ideas testedRules put to work

A repeatable process: research and test the strategy, automate the execution, review the results.

  1. Research and test

Only technical analysis is used, with historical price action as the sole input. Algorithms look for underlying patterns in how the market moves and for trading opportunities with a statistical edge. Fundamental analysis, news and events play no part. Every strategy is tested on historical data and written as clear rules for automated execution.

  2. Automate the execution

Every trade in my personal record was executed automatically. Algorithms turn each strategy’s rules into orders.

  3. Review the results

Live results are tracked and compared with SPY over the same periods, using the same method every time.

11 years at GoogleNow focused on algorithmic trading

Before investing full time, I spent 11 years in software engineering at Google. My academic background includes a PhD in Computer Science from The Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Information Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China.

In April 2024, I began developing trading algorithms for my own investments. After leaving Google in May 2025, I made independent research and systematic trading my primary focus.

My aim is to bring the research discipline I apply to my own account, and direct accountability, to managing yours.

  1. Understand your goals

Your goals, investing experience, time horizon and capacity for loss are reviewed to assess whether the approach suits you.

  2. Set the terms

A written agreement sets out the trading mandate, eligible investments, broker arrangements and fees. Service availability depends on your jurisdiction.

  3. Authorize account trading

You grant trading authority through your broker. Research and order execution are handled within the agreed mandate; the account remains yours.

Before we begin

Will you trade directly in my account?

Yes. With your broker’s formal authorization, trades are placed within the agreed mandate. The account and its assets remain in your name.

How are fees determined?

The schedule above sets out the four performance-fee tiers and the $78 monthly trading node fee per account. All fees are confirmed in writing before trading begins.

Is the track record live or backtested?

Live. These are real trades in my personal account, not backtest results. Time-weighted returns are reconstructed from account records and historical prices.
